Hi, we’re Kat and Michael and we’re Aussies from Adelaide in South Australia. We moved to London in June 2011, unwilling and unable to do the ‘settling down’ thing without seeing the world first! We’re sharing our European travel adventures with others in the hope that we can meet some like-minded travellers and help others out, plus share a few of our photos, wild experiences and epic fails along the way!
Email either of us directly at michael@epiclongweekend.com or kat@epiclongweekend.com.
I’m Michael, the tech geek, photography nut and I love food, particularly all things meaty. I’m really inquisitive, love to travel with friends, see new places and I generally as enthusiastic as a little boy along the way; landing in Kuala Lumpur on my first trip out of Oz, as I caught sight of the lights of KL I was heard to exclaim, “It’s like, a whole ‘nother country and stuff!!” I think it comes from learning to fly (these aircraft, if you’re interested) – I love maps & GPS tracks and geo-tagged photos and stuff like that, so I’ll be sharing plenty of .kml files and maps of our walks and adventures. Oh, and I also speak a bit of Spanish, after taking classes for 9 months here in London. ¡Adiós!
I’m Kat – I grew up on a farm, so living in London has been an amazing experience for me. I’ve been dreaming about this since I was 13, and first caught the travel bug when my Aunt married an American in Georgia, USA. I probably thought I’d move to Hollywood at the time as I adored Leonardo di Caprio - but here I am, working and living with my best friend who just happens to be my husband (not Leo di Caprio) in the greatest city in the world. Lucky for me, he too has the travel bug, and happens to understand the finer points of anything technological and calms me on bumpy flights so he’s a bloody good catch!!
I love food, making it and eating it! Yes people, the Heathrow injection truly does exist. I love trying new places, new experiences – everything. The only thing I don’t exactly love is flying. Put me on a train, boat, ferry, magic carpet any day!!

Thanks Rose & Paul! Yep that’d be awesome! We’ve decided to included many more pictures on each post – I’ve updated the post on Malta already. I’ll add your blog to our ‘Blogs I follow’ section too.
